DACA is an immigration policy that seeks to allow certain undocumented noncitizens a two-year deferral from deportation and a work permit. In order to qualify for DACA, an individual must meet a number of eligibility requirements. Once eligibility is determined, an applicant must file multiple forms with USCIS in order to be considered for DACA status. DACA recipients can also renew their DACA status and may travel abroad with prior approval through advance parole if the appropriate paperwork is prepared and filed. The requirements necessary to be a DACA recipient, along with the requirements for advance parole and DACA renewals are discussed in this chapter.
