DACA Guide Chapter 5 Summary: President-Elect Biden’s Promises to Reinforce and Expand DACA

The last four years for immigrants and potential immigrants have been difficult in the United States. President Trump’s anti-immigration policies and rhetoric have targeted and tried to disenfranchise immigrants in an effort to slow immigration in the United States. Trump’s “America First” mantra put immigration in the crosshairs which led to many difficulties for immigrants. President-Elect Biden promises to take a much different approach on immigration and plans to restore America’s commitment to asylum seekers and refugees, and welcome immigrants into our communities. Specifically, President-Elect Biden pledges to protect and Expand DACA. His commitment to the recognition of the United States as a proud nation of immigrants and his plans to protect DACA and DREAMers are discussed in this chapter.
